A MUSICIAN
— ABOUT —
MIKE AND MUSIC
The music bug infected Mike early in life, when introduced to a string quartet in third grade... by the fourth grade, he was taking violin lessons. Middle school brought it together when he switched to string bass... which meant electric bass too! Orchestra, Stage Band and his own rock bands followed in suit. He's been involved in musical groups since.
Interest in music expanded during college at Southern Oregon University, as he studied music performance and composition. Taking on the job of recording engineer for the Music Department, he soon grabbed the attention of KSOR, the local public radio station now known as Jefferson Public Radio, where his music knowledge garnered many shifts sharing jazz, classical and new age music with the region.
The radio gig led directly into a career in TV and video production, and music has always been there - picking the best cuts for music beds, transposing playing techniques into technical directing techniques, playing in bands and developing a home recording studio... but let's rewind a bit...
Back in high school, one of the keyboard players in his band brought a Micro Moog synthesizer to rehearsal and Mike fell in love with electronics. Synth music became the other thread Mike's musical career, latching onto MIDI and adding new synths and drum machines to his collection whenever possible. All of these concepts feed into Mike's music and current direction. Check out some of the samples below. And check out his SoundCloud page, where new music appears regularly.
